Roberto Di CandidoBorn into a musical family in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Roberto Di Candido Toledo Silveira Nunes de Siquera played violin, trumpet, percussion and piano and sang as a youth. He then studied voice and opera at the Universidade de Sao Paulo.At the age of 18 he left for Europe in an effort to further develop his innate musical talent. In defiance of the wishes of his family, he travelled to England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Switzerland in a constant pilgrimage to study with the most famous singing teachers in the field, including the great tenor Nicola Martinucci. In order to support his studies during this period, he earned money to sustain himself by teaching horseback-riding.A spectacularly gifted dramatico-lyrico tenor, Di Candido has sung in many parts of Europe, amassing a performing repertoire of literally scores of major operatic roles.
