The MACC (Malaysian Association of
Chinese Comedians) is the brand name for a collection of 4 stand-up comedians
namely Douglas Lim, Kuah Jenhan, Phoon Chi Ho and Dr Jason Leong. Since
establishing itself in 2009, the MACC has become one of the most recognizable
and anticipated stand-up comedy shows in the country.
Since 2010, the MACC have consistently
produced and performed sold out shows every year. Their latest offering for 2017 is
NOW That’s What I Call Jokes: Volume 8. It is a showcase of 4 unique stand-up
comedians with witty observations, anecdotes, and song parodies largely
influenced by their personal lives and experiences here in Malaysia.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Douglas
Lim
Douglas Lim is now primarily a
STAND-UP COMEDIAN. But his involvement with the entertainment industry in the
last 2 decades witnessed him taking on many roles. For example, he is an ACTOR
on both screen and stage (Spontan, Lat the Musical, 1957 – Hati Malaya, Los
& Faun, TenTenTen, Kopitiam, Homecoming, P.Ramlee the Musical, Tunku the
Musical, Broken Bridges, etc…). He is also a COMPOSER & LYRICIST for tv and
stage (Kopitiam, Reality, Ghost, Cuci the Musical, etc…).
His stand-up comedy
performances include “Kings and Queen of Comedy Asia”, “Laugh Die You”, “Lawak
Ke Der”, “The haritHDouglas Show”, Comedy Club KL, Comedy Club Singapore and
M.A.C.C. Douglas Lim was nominated for
Best Actor in a Comedy at the Asian TV Awards. He lost to Gurmit Singh (Phua
Chu Kang)!
Kuah Jenhan
Standup
comedy fans in Malaysia have witnessed the best deliveries of comedic
curveballs from Kuah Jenhan.
In the last four years, Jenhan has performed at sold-out shows for
paying audiences in the main urban towns in Malaysia: Petaling Jaya, Ipoh,
Johor Bahru, Penang and has been honored to share a stage with his fellow
comedians in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore.
He is a highly sought after entertainer at corporate events, having
performed for intimate groups of 150 to crowds of 3,000 people. His brand of
humour and performance ethics has garnered the respect and accolades of some of
the most experienced comics in Malaysia and in the region.
Jenhan is also a columnist with Esquire
magazine, a radio and voice over talent, a script-writer
for TV, feature films, in the performing arts. He has been associated with
international brands such as Philips, Ben Sherman, Levi’s and TEDxKL.
Phoon Chi Ho
Together with the Malaysian Association
of Chinese Comedians (MACC), founded
by local wit wizard Douglas Lim, Chi Ho has helped produce more than 30
sold-out shows with the group and has shared the stage with local greats like Harith Iskander, Patrick Teoh, and Afdlin
Shauki, as well as international comedians like Paul Ogata, Gina Yeshere, Kumar
and many more.
In 2012, Chi Ho co-wrote
and acted as the bumbling waiter in the local English sitcom Small Mission Enterprise (3 seasons),
which starred Alvin Wong, Baki Zainal, Ash Nair, Wak Doyok, Chelsia Ng, Indi
Nadarajah, Adibah Noor, and more. In 2014,
his dashing looks earned him a main supporting role in a new Malay sitcom, Cakap Melayulah (on Astro Warna),
starring Nabil, Shahrol Shiro, Jasmin Hamid and the legendary Khatijah Tan.
In 2015, Chi Ho was given
the opportunity to flex his creative muscles when he penned 3 episodes for one
of Malaysia’s most popular edutainment TV shows – Oh My English!
When he’s not performing, he channels his passion for comedy as an
“unofficial promoter” of all-things-comedy in Malaysia.
Dr Jason Leong
It has been a groundbreaking time for Dr. Jason Leong. In October 2013, he
became the first Malaysian to win the Annual International Comedy Competition
held in Hong Kong where he was also voted Overall Audience Favourite. He won
40,000HKD in cash plus an opportunity to tour the US where Dr. Jason
performed in various comedy shows in Los Angeles, Minneapolis and New York.
2013 was also the year Dr Jason made inroads in corporate comedy. His
first major production in collaboration with Pfizer Malaysia called ‘Get H4RD,
Stand UP!’ brought together international comics from Singapore, Hong Kong and
Philippines. It sold out to maximum capacity at 1350 seats over 3 nights in
November and boosted Pfizer’s brand awareness tremendously.
Additionally, Dr Jason worked with Alliance Bank Malaysia and helped
inject
comedy into their 2013 campaign called the Bizsmart Academy SME
Innovation
Challenge. Dr. Jason appeared in their online viral ad, wrote and
directed their radio ad, hosted and performed comedy for their finale, the
Awards Celebration in December.
Dr Jason’s public appearances include being the resident emcee of Comedy
Kao
Kao, a monthly comedy show which he started 2 years ago and in the
Malaysian
Association of Chinese Comedians (MACC) produced by Douglas Lim.
