Ambassador Mr Kenji Shinoda is a career diplomat who has previously served in the US, Russia and Europe. Prior to his retirement from politics in August 2015,Mr Lui Tuck Yew was Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Defence. He previously served as the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts from 2010 to 2011. Mr Lui started his career as an officer in the Republic of Singapore Navy, where he rose to the rank of Rear-Admiral and served as Singapore's Chief of Navy from 1999 to 2003. He then held many senior roles as an Administrative Officer in the civil service, including the roles of CEO of the Maritime and Port Authority, and the Housing and Development Board. Mr Lui read Natural Sciences Tripos (Chemistry) at Trinity College, University of Cambridge as a Singapore Armed Forces Overseas scholar, and graduated in 1983. In 1994, he completed a Master of Arts in international relations at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.
