FutureLab Talks Digital is a speed mentoring event for anyone interested to sit down with experts from the digital world. ­­They range from startup founders, digital marketers to professionals in multinational tech companies.Most importantly, speak with those who have the experience of launching and running both successful startups and, working in startup giants like Google. Amir Amha is a contractor for Google for Education's APAC team based in Kuala Lumpur. He is responsible for planning and executing Google for Education's main programs and initiatives related to education technology. Amir is also one of the founding team member of the social enterprise unit in the Malaysia Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC). During his time there, he led the academy team responsible for building and accelerating the capacity of social entrepreneurs in Malaysia. His past area of work also includes Malaysian Social Enterprise blueprint which was launched in 2015, in addition to several impact focused initiatives with other public and private organisation. Originally from a consulting background, Amir never planned to be a part of Google. His history included failing high school in Japan due to the language barrier, graduating from university at 25 (late by some standards) and being one of the oldest entry-level analysts at his first full time job. He describes himself as a Gen Y with the work ethics of a Gen X. When asked how he did it, he said that the first key to success is having the right attitude – patience, humility and diligence. FutureLabTalksDigital mentor, Kristyn Gan, is the Co-founder of Guruu; an online tutoring service aimed at improving the English communications skills of Malaysians, both students and professionals. Guruu’s focus is on integrating technology and education to develop practical language skills, with the aim to overcome the language barrier that places many Malaysians at a disadvantage when seeking for jobs. Their lessons are conducted online via Skype and are tailored to suit each students' requirements, resulting in a flexible, convenient and productive learning experience! In her role as Head of Finance and Business Operations, she oversees the day-to-day operations, business strategy, performance tracking and management accounting of Guruu. She currently also works with BDO Malaysia as an Assistant Manager in Corporate Finance while pursuing the ICAEW qualification; a jack of all trades! Jonathan Oh is the Founder and CEO of Supplycart, an e-commerce platform helping businesses with everything they need for the office; from staplers and chairs to snacks and coffee. He is also the founder of Malaysia’s artisanal grocery delivery startup, Freshcart.Supplycart has gained multiple recognition, winning the Alliance Bank SME Innovation Challenge 2015 as 2nd runner up and serving corporate clients like Unilever, BP, EcoWorld, Alliance bank and more. It also represented Malaysia together with 24 other startups in Stanford-MaGIC Entrepreneurship Program in 2016. The platform has been featured in medias such as BFM89.9, The Star, Focus Malaysia, Oriental Daily and TechinAsia.Supplycart has approached a traditional industry by focusing on the technology to empower their clients. Jonathan reflects a unique entrepreneurial spirit, not to mention his jovial nature. Eric Marc Samuel is a pioneering team member for DHL eCommerce with a responsibility of developing a distribution network capable of fulfilling nationwide deliveries within one day of purchase from online retailers. DHL eCommerce offers services that support the development of cross-border and domestic e-commerce. They are e-tailers in growing their business by providing fulfilment services, and facilitate their international e-commerce business.Francesca Chia was a former consultant at BCG before co-founding her own company, GoGet.my. GoGet is the leading part-time jobs platform in Malaysia. GoGet's mission is to transform the traditional labour market. Alisa Kandiah is a pioneering member of Logikation, an IOT startup in environmental management systems. At the start-up stage her role is to anchor the organisation on domains of customer focus, branding, ideation, innovation and opportunities while maintaining a business focal point. Alisa is also part of the management team of another successful startup, Natural Wellness. She currently sits in the MD’s office, Head the Corporate Communications function and play a role in business transformation for a leading Speciality OTC Healthcare company, Natural Wellness. She also pushes forward towards ensuring that the expansion is towards an accelerated growth and maintaining global competitive advantage.Daryll Tan​ ventured into establishing his own talent management and video marketing business at the age of 21. Daryll then merged his company and is the Co-Founder of OpenMinds™ Resources; together with his partners, growing the company’s valuation to USD3Million in 4 years, being featured as one of Malaysia’s best workplace culture and recognised by The Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia (TeAM) as one of the Corporate Development companies under the Malaysia’s Startup Ecosystem Handbook.Specialising in creative marketing and ideation, he serves wholeheartedly to manage client accounts, consult industry leaders on social media positioning, oversee content creation and strategize on marketing campaigns to engage the intended target audience and build brands. He is also the Founder of PlaySafe, a social crime fighting initiative that focuses on making safety a right and not a luxury. As an entrepreneur, he strives to create purposeful jobs for people, find solutions and build valuable products; actively nurturing high-performing teams and enhancing innovative thinking. Cyril Dhenaut is CEO and Co-founder of Mataris Agency. He was the Chief Marketing Officer for KFit before launching Mataris.Mataris is a digital agency with a slightly different approach. Mataris would like to think digital marketing as a single flow instead of a chart with separate areas. At Mataris, they believe that every marketing action should start with a gut feeling and then be backed by data. Cyril thinks they are not revolutionising digital marketing, they are just doing it better; with consulting standards and a growth hacking methodology.They operate through three main areas: acquisition, activation, retention. Their unique value proposition lies in their ability to think holistically through these 3 steps, as one single flow, in order to generate revenue and bring growth to each project that they take on.Mohd Khair Amsyar had spent the earlier part of his career in consulting before moving into eCommerce. Now his company is launching Malaysia’s First Mobile App from agents for customers called “iBantu – Insurance Helper”.Luke has very much followed the path that most parents expect from their children. Be good in school, go to university and get a good job at a big firm to retire. Studied computer science in Germany and getting an MBA in the US, he started to work for Accenture and Zurich Insurance. After 12 years in the corporate world, he quit his job in 2016 and started iBanding. The company is in the seed phase where it needs to prove its customer acceptance and business model. iBanding’s goal is to improve the life in Malaysia and making the insurance industry more efficient.Maisarah is an investment analyst at Cradle Funds, under the DEQ800 team.The DEQ800 is an investment product by Cradle Funds which works on diversifying investment strategy for a maturing startup ecosystem in Malaysia. Maisarah actively works with the investment team in all aspects of the investment from origination & deal structuring through to due-diligence & portfolio management, on-going monitoring & review (operational, financial performance & industry benchmarking) of investment portfolio.Warren Chan is the CEO and Co-founder of ParkEasy; a Malaysian startup that lets you park quickly in shopping malls through spot reservation. The aim of ParkEasy is to eliminate time and stress involved in finding a car park spot within Malaysia's busy vicinity through an app which is available to download on both iOS and Android. Prior to ParkEasy, Warren worked in quasi-government, social enterprise, and banking. He is a Finance and Economics graduate from the University of Melbourne.William Lo is the Digital Marketing Specialist, or better known as the Marketing Champion, for ShopandBox, a global peer-to-peer shopping platform that connects people to personal shopper all around the world to help buy items that they otherwise can't get in their own countries. He also is a core member of the operations team.
