While this has been a good opportunity for non-LGBT individuals for the first time to turn their attention and understand the issues of sexual minorities in Japan, this interest should not be something that ends as a fad. Both LGBT people and non-LGBT people, their allies--everybody equally has their own true heart. To have confidence in one's own way of thinking and pride in one's way of interacting with everything in one's world based on one's identity and sexual preference, and to respect the behavior and values of others--it was with these ideas in mind we began ORIIJIN, the magazine. We want individuals to follow the style of their own hearts. Both LGBT individuals and non-LGBT individuals appear in our magazine. Many diverse people will fill our pages to share their style of following one's own heart. We hope by the 2020 Olympics that there will be even greater understanding of sexual minorities, and that we will move closer to a society where all people are equal and the categories begin to matter less.
