The Magical land of Midnight Sun and Mystical Centre of the Earth - Iceland
(Dates are either 16 to 25 June or 17 to 26 June. It depends on the availability of the flight.
Iceland is one of Europe's most alluring places. It is famous for the winter northern light. However, it may be lesser known to others that it comes very much alive and adventure in summer.
Iceland sits in the North Atlantic Ocean, just south of the Arctic Circle. Due to its geographical northerly position, the sun shines in Iceland nearly 24 hours a day during the peak of summer in Reykjavík. Hence the phenomenon of Midnight Sun. The sun sets after midnight and rise again at about 3am. This is one of the extraordinary experiences that I would like to add to to-experience-in-my-lifetime list.

Words cannot describe the phenomenon, take a look at the video and you will understand.
Another interesting fact is Iceland is the setting of the famous novel by Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”. Verne's heroes - the eccentric Professor Lidenbrock and his nephew, Axel, discover a clue encrypted in an old Icelandic manuscript that sends them to the Iceland in search of a passage to the core of the planet. In the story, the centre of the earth is found in Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We will be visiting this legendary area of magic and beauty, immortalized in Jules Verne's “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”.
Iceland is abundant in natural beauty. Within the country you’ll find volcanoes, mountains, Fjords, glaciers and glacial lagoons, black sand beaches, lava caves, and towering seaside cliffs.
Below is the planned itinerary that covers some of these beautiful places.
(The local operators will do their best to adhere to the route described below but certain amount of flexibility is necessary to build into the trip as on occasions it may be desirable or necessary to make alterations or changes to the intended itinerary)

(Optimal: If time permits, we may be able to go for water rafting, or Whale watching during midnight sun)
Þingvellir National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with historical, cultural, and geological importance. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge passes right through Thingvellir and separates the Eurasian Plate and North American Plate – which basically means that one part of Thingvellir is located in America while the other in Europe. It is also the place of the oldest parliament of the world
Gullfoss – This waterfall is one of Iceland‘s main attractions. It is located on the Hvítá River and consisted of two falls at 90 degree angles to each other. It has a total height of 32 meters and considered one of the most unique waterfalls in the world.
Geysir is one of the most famous attractions in Iceland. This famous geyser is the first geyser known to modern Europeans. Its eruption can throw boiling waters up to 70 meters in the air.

Skálholt is one of the most historic places in Iceland. It was an episcopal see, a school, a seat of learning and administration for more than 700 years and a place of pilgrimage in medieval times.
South Iceland Tour – the favourite part of Iceland: Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls, view on Eyjafjallajökull volcano and glacier, Skógafoss Waterfalls, Dyrhólaey promontory, Vík village.
Eyjafjallajökull volcano and glacier – The legendary Eyjafjallajokull is the Icelandic volcano which brought European air traffic to a standstill in the 2010 even though it was a relatively small volcanic eruptions. It is also famous for having an unpronounceable name.
The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country with a width of 25 metres (82 feet) and a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days. According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. The legend continues that locals found the chest years later, but were only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again. The ring was allegedly given to the local church. The old church door ring is now in a museum, though whether it gives any credence to the folklore is debatable.

West Iceland tour – less visited by the international tourist: Borgarnes town, Deildartunguhver geothermal area, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls.
Deildartunguhver is Europe's most powerful hot spring. It is characterized by a very high flow rate for a hot spring (180 liters/second) and water emerges at 97 °C. It is the highest-flow hot spring in Europe.
Hraunfossar and Barnafoss Waterfalls – They are called Hraunfossar, which translates to "Lava waterfalls", and Barnafoss, which means "Children´s waterfall".
A stone's throw upstream from Hraunfossar, there is another waterfall called Barnafoss. According to legend Barnafoss takes its name from two children who fell into the waterfall. There was a natural bridge over the waterfall and two children from a nearby farm fell to their deaths crossing the river on the bridge. Their grief-struck mother had the bridge destroyed so that no children could cross the falls again.
