John Edwards is a true virtuoso whose staggering range of techniques and boundless musical imagination have redefined the possibility of the double bass. Steve Noble is London's leading drummer, a fearless and constantly inventive improviser. The trio explores the improvised world in all its aspects with drive and invention, moving from wild and intense passages, odd and peculiar moods to sections of subtlety and beauty. The debut album “ii” includes songs written in Finland, Berlin, Istanbul and Madeira during weeklong residencies that all ended with a concert with the new songs. Each place has affected the sound, sometimes literally in the form of samples and field recordings. It is in the DNA of the band to seek out new places to be inspired by, and to incorporate their experience of a given place into the way they write and perform music.
