He co-founded six innovation-driven tech firms with MIT friends and classmates. Five of these global companies were successful, either doing an IPO and exceeding $1Billion market cap, or a very valuable, accretive merger. One was a complete disaster. They included 3Com, AspenTech, a biotechnology spinoff from an MIT lab, a China Trading Company (during the Cultural Revolution), and an Artificial Intelligence-based expert systems company.As Founding Managing Director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center [1996 -2009], Ken was a key player in growing and building the MIT Innovation ecosystem. The work of the E-Center, under his leadership, included supporting the MIT $100K Business Plan competition, and launching 31 new interdisciplinary courses for MIT Science, Engineering and Business students.During his years at MIT, Ken and his colleagues frequently networked with inventors from the MIT labs to connect them with entrepreneurs and sources of funding - - both angel investors and VCs. He launched the first tech sales course at any serious business school, fought to overcome the funding gap.Since retiring from MIT, Ken has continued to teach, inspire and coach ambitious entrepreneurs in Quebec, Europe, Turkey, and Japan. He teaches B2B SALES workshops for ambitious CEOs and managers, and serves on the Board of Advisors of about a dozen ambitious tech firms, helping them to develop and execute their sales strategies to achieve total global domination of their chosen market niche.Ken is also advising major firms and regional governments in Japan and Europe on various aspects of building their own Corporate Moonshots and Innovation strategies.Ken has made more than 165 business trips to and throughout Japan, working with major chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing and engineering firms from Hokkaido and Honshu to Kansai and Kyushu.
