A Good Space, serve.sg, and socialcollab.sg are planning to host monthly Possibility Conversations, which would function as a space to:Understand different issues and explore ideas for social change in Singapore;Support the formation of community networks; andHelp groups connect to resources and partners. Each conversation has four main segments: Guest Speaker: Curated segment with featured guests, focused on building a knowledge base (issues / community assets / ideas).  Rounds: All participants will take turns to speak through 2 quick rounds: 1) Basic Self-Introduction, 2) Suggested Topics for Possibility Conversation. Participants will also be offered assistance to sign up for a volunteer account on serve.sg and feature their skills and offers. (Serve.sg allows volunteers to pitch ideas to organisations). Possibility conversations: Participants can suggest topics or choose from an existing breakout session to join. Participants can also suggest topics before the session and invite anyone to share ideas they'd like to discuss / receive feedback on. Ideally, Possibility Conversations should touch on an idea that you have an interest in, but can only come to fruition if the right people come together. Shareback: We will document the discussion and become a placeholder for any new groups formed so that others can discover and join them. Theme for August 2021: How can we talk about Racism? In recent months, several racist incidents have brought to light to the marginalised experiences of minority groups in Singapore. In the following conversations on race such as the IPS-RSIS Forum on Race and Racism in Singapore, much has been said about racism, how it manifests structurally and how we can move forward. In this Possibility Conversations, we would like to explore more concretely, "How can we talk about Racism" which focuses on how we might conduct these difficult but neccessary conversations on racism. Some of the questions we hope to answer include:What frameworks can we utilise to guide conversations on race and racism? What guidelines should we have in place in providing a safe space to talk about racism? How can we talk about racism in an open and accessible manner? If you are interested to learn how to talk about racism with the people around you, join us at August's session of Possibility Conversations!Guest Speakers for August 2021Mohamed Imran Mohamed TaibImran will share about our personal lens in viewing race and identity, how historical context shapes this process and some thoughts on developing a bolder safe space.Mohamed Imran Mohamed Taib is founder and Board member of a local NGO, Centre for Interfaith Understanding (CIFU).
