About Rails Girls:

Our aim is to give tools and a community for women to understand technology and to build their ideas. Rails Girls aims to make technology approachable for girls and women. It wants to empower girls to build the capacity and acquire the tools to conquer the last online frontier. It is a global, non-profit volunteer community effort.

We do this by providing a great experience on building things using technology. Girls and women learn sketching, prototyping, and basic programming. Rails Girls was born in Finland, but is nowadays a global, non-profit volunteer community.

Founded by Linda Liukas and Karri Saarinen. The first event, held in Helsinki in November 2010. Since then it has expanded to Shanghai, Singapore, Tallinn, Berlin, Krakow and many more attracting thousands of girls to the world of web building.
