However, every once in a while one child decides, “That is MY stick!” when it is in another child’s hand. Conflict in life is normal. Learning to handle a conflict is one of the key learnings for peaceful living. The best ‘conflict management workshop’ in the world happens in young children’s social or cooperative play – if there is appropriate adult guidance. The ways in which we support the child who is in conflict sets the pattern for how they themselves will handle conflict as an adult. This workshop takes a deep look at: • the nature of conflict • how we can best support the child when conflict ‘learning opportunities’ arise • tried and tested ways to peacefully negotiate over ‘the stick’Promoting peaceful negotiations - Positive change at the grass roots level.ABOUT CLARE CAROClare Caro lives in the UK with her husband and two daughters.
