But now, do you live with harmony or with truth? Premiered at an anti-nuclear demonstration in Berlin, the piece has continually been updated into theater versions with advice from radiation specialists, performances in Fukushima and visits into the restricted areas near the radiating power plant. A body is left standing on an island made of lies peeled off… A contemporary dance protest piece devised of satirical theater and high-level physical performance. Now performed in a special co-creation version with Sammy Chien. Trained in martial arts, street dance and contemporary dance theater, he seeks to communicate beyond culture and form (ality). Kazuma works in a versatile wide spectrum; performing in close collaboration with political and environmental activists, internationally renowned choreographers touring the world, cutting edge commercial work, teaching, and dancing alone in nature. After the accident of Fukushima, Kazuma started to create pieces about nuclear power, war, Japanese military sex slavery, racism and nationalism to challenge the taboos with a wide open heart in theaters and in demonstrations. As a dancer/collaborator Kazuma has danced with Richard Siegal (Forsythe Company), Takayuki Fujimoto (Dumb Type), Tsuyoshi Shirai (AbsT) Perrine Valli (France/Swiss) among others. www.bodypoet.info Sammy Chien (Chimerik) is a Taipei born, Vancouver based interdisciplinary media artist, director, performer, researcher and mentor who works with film, sound art, new media and dance/theatre performance. He has studied film (BFA Honours) at Simon Fraser University and developed an expertise in electroacoustic music and digital technology in performance environment. After learning real-time performance softwares from Troika Ranch (NYC/Berlin) he continues his deep interest in interdisciplinary collaborations and forges deep connections between image, sound, and movement. He has collaborated visually, aurally and conceptually in numerous multi-disciplinary projects which have exhibited across Canada, Western Europe, and Asia including Centre Pompidou(Paris), Museum of Contemporary Arts Taipei, National Centre for the Performing Arts(Beijing), Hellerau: European Centre for the Arts Dresden. His recent collaboration with Beijing Modern Dance Company includes working with artists such as Wong Kar Wai’s Cinematographer Christopher Doyle, the Father of Rock in China Cui Jian and having lunch with Ai Wei Wei. Sammy has also been involved in research or mentorship in projects that focus on the integration between art, science, technology and spirituality as well as engaging with various community groups such as social activists, low-income residents, mental health, spiritual healing, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ2+, indigenous, multicultural background and youths.
