Please note that the Wednesday ticket price is only for performing arts students. On 2nd and 3rd February 2017, Hamlet will be performed in Singapore by the Theatre of Others – a cutting edge theatre company that is co-directed by Aole T. Miller (Budi) and Adam Marple.
One of the most used words in Shakespeare's Hamlet is Come. It’s a welcome. An invitation. Entering. Approaching. Just as Hamlet is about drawing in, so too the space is a home with a welcome mat. The Theatre of Others invites you to embark on an unforgettable journey and witness a contemporary Hamlet in Singapore that fuses high fashion, theatre, art, and music. A play is a work of art, and as a work of art, it’s open to interpretation and response. This unique production of Hamlet will be held in a stunning location overlooking Singapore. At each performance, guests will have the opportunity to experience one of the most important plays in the English language in a thrilling and illuminating atmosphere. Hosted in the manner of the European Salon only 25 guests are invited to enjoy the play.
ENECAA is involved in the collaboration and has invited Timur Akhmedov to create a stunning series of works to complement the play. One key work is Silence. Completed in oils it is his interpretation of the forest in which Ophelia chose to end her life. Contemporary mosaic artist Tammy Holohan will also be showcasing exciting new work. The Theatre of Others believes the play watches the audience. The audience is necessary and they are a witness to what happens. The founders assert that a play is a work of art and as a work of art, it’s open to interpretation and response.
