Director’s Travel Journal - 14 Jan


Visit historic port cities like Nagasaki, Goa, Canton (Guangzhou), and Batavia (Jakarta) as part of a two-part series talk. Let the Director of the Asian Civilisations Museum take you through time from the 1500s to today, and explore what remains of the old cities in the contemporary ones.

Held in conjunction with Rojak! Weekend Festival, happening on 14 and 15 January.

About the speaker

Kennie Ting is Director, Asian Civilisations Museum, and Group Director, Museums, for the National Heritage Board. He is fascinated by the architectural heritage of colonial cities in Asia, and is the author of two books, The Romance of the Grand Tour – 100 Years of Travel in South East Asia, and a volume on Heritage in the Singapore Chronicles series commissioned by the Institute of Policy Studies.
