MERIDIAN: Exploring intersections, challenging our perceptions, reaching new heightsSAAN Conference 2017 Vision Statement for Meridian:In an effort to understand the intersections within and beyond the South Asian community, we seek to challenge our previously held notions through introspection. Through this process, we recognize our shortcomings and strengthen our appreciation for identities that have been overshadowed and need to be heard. We hope to create spaces in which we can embrace the multifaceted nature of our community. In cultivating an informed point of view, we aspire to work alongside all identities to create a positive impact, while simultaneously being cognizant of the extent of our reach. With this newfound knowledge, we strive to hold a more active presence within minority communities as we collectively work towards a higher sense of awareness.
