This time, the artist to artist workshops for ASEAN’s socio-cultural development will be held at Nhà hát Múa rối Việt Nam Theatre, organised by Nhà hát Múa rối Việt Nam Theatre and Artsolute Ltd of Singapore. The final showcase will be held at 8pm on the 17th of December at Nhà hát Múa rối Việt Nam Theatre.APEX ONE is the final conclusive ASEAN Puppetry exchange for 2016. It is the final definitive story to be built upon the last 5 exchanges, namely APEX Fire, Water, Light, Earth and Live. The upcoming APEX ONE will unite artists from all 10 countries with guest artists from Japan. With APEX promoting a two-way, intercultural exchange, there will be a greater understanding of our cultures.The APEX ONE performance will highlight ASEAN’s common identity and through the tale, tells the story of ONE united ASEAN.Visiting artists involved represent the Penggiat Seni Tanah Air Brunei (Brunei), Sovanna Phum Art Association (Cambodia), SENA WANGI (Indonesia), Jampalao (Laos), a pending group from (Malaysia), Htwe Oo Myanmar (Myanmar), Teatrong Mulat (Philippines), Sri Warisan Som Said (Singapore), Joe Louis Theatre (Thailand) and The National Puppet Theatre (Vietnam). Guest artists include representatives from Utervision of Japan, who will observe and incorporate ideas and ways of intercultural exchange to their practices in Tokyo.The APEX collective is a membership of over 160 ASEAN puppet artists and practitioners who have come together to develop the mobility of artists and appreciation of ASEAN as one community. Since 2014, APEX has used puppet performances and workshops across Southeast Asia, from Yangon to Jakarta, to help ASEAN’s people recognise and understand the unity and diversity of all ten ASEAN member states’ cultures, stories and languages.
