And as a bonus, Felix will also share the 6 attributes that all teams must have in order to increase the probability of success.Mr Felix Tan Managing Director, The Finlab Mr Felix Tan is the Managing Director of The Finlab, Singapore’s 1st corporate FinTech accelerator, and a Joint Venture company between United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Infocomm Investments Pte Ltd (IIPL). Since starting his career in commodities and forex trading, Felix has held various roles in management (mainly in sales and business development), and has had experience in management training & consulting. He is no stranger to the startup scene, having founded Singapore’s 1st internet company, SilkRoute Holdings in 1995; and a subsidiary, ECNet, in 1996. Both companies attracted venture funds totaling US$72.5 million. He also helped to raise a US$20 million e-commerce fund under SilkRoute Capital to invest into B2B startups in 1999. Apart from his business ventures, Felix was a mentor at NTU Ventures where he helped startups refine their ideas and strategies to qualify for funding from Spring Singapore. Given his background and passion for mentoring, startups will have much to benefit from an accelerator programme like The FinLab’s under Felix’s charge. Felix graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Kent State University (Ohio) and represented Singapore in the 1989 – 1993 South East Asian Games in the sport of Fencing, capping his fencing career here with a team bronze medal.
