Outdoor portraiture - techniques, tips and tricks

Do you enjoy photographing people? Maybe you enjoy the candid shot of a stranger in the street or a posed portrait in the park?
Taking photos of people outdoors can be quite challenging. Yet there are a few tricks and techniques that will ensure you get much better results quickly.

We will meet at 16 A Haji Lane for a quick tutorial and will then take a walk around the colourful and quirky streets of Kampong Glam. We will have at least one model to make it a very practical and real learning environment.

We will cover the following
- how to connect to and communicate with your subject
- how to get the perfect background - the power of depth of field
- common poses
- best shooting angles
- how to use ambient light to your advantage
- how to use a reflector

This outing requires you to shoot in M mode. If you have a good understanding of aperture then you can also participate and shoot in A/Av mode.

You will need to have a midrange zoom or prime lens ( 50mm/85mm/100mm).
If you own a speed light, then please bring that along as well.
