A new event at Esplanade's da:ns festival; Coffee Chats is a rare opportunity to have an intimate conversation with a dance artist or practitioner.In this session, be in conversation with Stephanie Burridge on History of Contemporary Dance Practice in Singapore from the emergence of western dance influences to the re-emphasis of ethnic cultures. Come prepared for a discussion through time with this session of Coffee Chats.How does it work?In each session, up to three people get 20 minutes to ask questions and dialogue with artists and practitioners. In the situation that you are not present, we will give your slot to another on the waiting list.To be placed on the waiting list, please email us at dansfestival@esplanade.com.About the ConversationalistStephanie Burridge (PhD) lectures at LASALLE College of the Arts and Singapore Management University and is the Research and Documentation Network Co-Chair for World Dance Alliance Asia Pacific. She was Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theater (1978-2001); awarded the first Fellowship at the Australian Choreographic Center and also choreographed for television, music theater, opera and Olympic gymnastic floor routines. She is a dance critic, educator and Series Editor for Routledge Celebrating Dance in Asia and the Pacific books.
