Want to know how choreographers think when creating a dance piece? What challenges do these artists have? How do you run a dance company? What is dance all about? A new event at Esplanade's da:ns festival; Coffee Chats is a rare opportunity to have an intimate conversation with a dance artist or practitioner.In this session, be in conversation with Cultural Medallion Award recipient Lim Fei Shen on Collaborators & Collaborations to know more about the relationship between the two in dance productions. Come prepared for an enlightening session at Coffee Chats.How does it work?In each session, up to three people get 20 minutes to ask questions and dialogue with artists and practitioners. Due to the limited slots available, please be at the venue 10 minutes before the event. In the situation that you are not present, we will give your slot to another on the waiting list.To be placed on the waiting list, please email us at dansfestival@esplanade.com.About the ConversationalistLim Fei Shen is a Singapore modern dance pioneer. Trained at Folkwang Hochschule in Germany and New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, the renowned choreographer and arts educator served as artistic director of the People’s Assocation Dance Company from 1984 to 1991. Throughout her artistic journey, Lim explores various notions of identity with dance and has interwoven Eastern and Western influences in technique, content and aesthetics. She is also known for incorporating interdisciplinary approaches to her work. In 1988, she received the Cultural Medallion for her contributions to dance in Singapore.
