A new event at Esplanade's da:ns festival; Coffee Chats is a rare opportunity to have an intimate conversation with a dance artist or practitioner.In this session, be in conversation with Adrian Tan on Lighting and Dance to know more about the role of a lighting designer in dance productions. Come prepared for an illuminating session at Coffee Chats.How does it work?In each session, up to three people get 20 minutes to ask questions and dialogue with artists and practitioners. Due to the limited slots available, please be at the venue 10 minutes before the event. In the situation that you are not present, we will give your slot to another on the waiting list.To be placed on the waiting list, please email us at dansfestival@esplanade.com.About the ConversationalistAdrian’s dynamic lighting designs covers a wide spectrum of genres and forms- Theatre, Opera, Dance and his commercial work have been staged on both the local and international arts scene. He has worked with most of the major dance companies in Singapore, having been the Resident Lighting Designer for Singapore Dance Theatre, T.H.E. Dance Company and RE: Dance Theatre. Notable designs for dance works include Singapore Dance Theatre’s Masterpiece In Motion Series (2012-2016) and Don Quixote (2014/2016), T.H.E. Dance Company’s As It Fades (2014), Re:Dance Theatre’s Lost Days and A Box Full Of. This and also Esplanade da:ns Festival’s commissioned works for Lasalle in both 2012 and 2013. Adrian’s designs are also prominent in the theatre scene, having lit works produced by Dream Academy Productions, Singapore Lyric Opera, W!ld Rice and The Necessary Stage. Several of his works have also been nominated and received awards, such as 2011 LIFE! Theatre Awards Nomination for Best Lighting Design for A Cage Goes in Search of a Bird produced by A Group Of People, Monkey Goes West for W!ld Rice and Edith Podesta’s Dark Room 8. Adrian was recently awarded the Best Lighting Design in the 13th BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2016 for Another Country produced by W!LD RICE. As an expansion of his creative works, Adrian founded The Light Project Co. in 2014 and his company has gone on produce and design shows for Universal Studios Singapore and the popular Garden Rhapsody for Gardens By The Bay.
