He describes his pictures and animated films as Clayographies; bittersweet adult clay biographies based on his family, friends and acquaintances. He uses only traditional stopmotion and photographic techniques to create his work, and every prop, set and character is hand crafted using clay, cardboard, wire and paint. He has created six animated films including, MARY AND MAX, HARVIE KRUMPET, UNCLE, COUSIN, BROTHER, and ERNIE BISCUIT. His films have been voiced by some of the world's leading actors including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Geoffrey Rush, Barry Humphries, Eric Bana and Toni Collette. His films have participated in over 8oo film festivals and accumulated over 100 awards including the 2003 Short Animation Academy Award™ for HARVIE KRUMPET. John McKenna is the Studio Head at One Animation, a leading producer of CG animated content based in Singapore. He has also worked in, or closely with, production studios in LA, Vancouver, Toronto, London, Dublin, Copenhagen, Berlin, Cologne, Paris, Beijing, Ho Chi Minh, Mumbai and Sydney. John's background includes working on several TV Series as well as feature films including Space Jam, Iron Giant, Titan A.E., Igor, Planes 1 and 2, to name a few. John's wealth of experience adds to that of the One Animation senior management team who have over 50 years’ experience working on a vast array of industry leading projects from TV to feature film including: Harry Potter, Happy Feet, Tomb Raider, Mulan, Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10.
