It Starts With A Story with Eleanor WalfordFriday, 14 October 2016, 10am to 1pmNormal Rate: $63 per teacher ($60 workshop fee + $3 peatix booking fee)About It Starts With A Story:In this practical, hands-on workshop, Eleanor will use well-loved tales (such as The Little Red Hen and The Three Little Pigs) and classic picture books to demonstrate a range of inclusive story-based techniques that boost children’s confidence, develop language skills and inspire older children to get writing. Participants will have the opportunity to practice creative literacy techniques themselves and make simple “story play maps” and puppets to take back and use in the own classrooms. Eleanor will share examples of cross-curricular projects that put stories at their heart and invite participants to create their own projects to be used back at their school.Stories In A Bag with Eleanor WalfordSaturday, 15 October 2016, 10am to 1pmNormal Rate: $63 per teacher ($60 workshop fee + $3 peatix booking fee)About Stories In A Bag:Participants will learn how to conduct the session ’Stories in a bag’, a UK-based tried and tested, successful session with young children that enables the children to create a story together, developing their language and literacy skills along the way. The workshop is practice-based, with children aged 3-6 in mind, aiming to provide facilitators with the tools and ideas to run a creative session that put stories at its heart. The training workshop requires participants to get in touch with their inner child and help to create a collaborative group story inspired by the everyday objects found in three story bags. The session will also include artistic and creative techniques, rhythm and improvised rhymes.. The technique, developed by Discover, a London-based creative children’s centre, gives children the opportunity to use their imaginations and create characters out of a range of different objects.
