Eat TogetherThe Curry Project is an edible art experience presented in the form of a traditional vegetarian South Indian Thali, served on a banana leaf. All guests will participate in the interactive element of making a pot of curry before sitting down on the floor to a banana leaf plate filled with dishes made from locally community vegetables. We will explore the history of the curry and its evolution through the centuries, how it shapes the lives of the cultures that it spices through the rituals of kitchen and curry making. Treasured recipes carried across oceans, guarded in palaces and scenting memories through time. Showcasing the social power of food to divide or bring together people as well the lines of healing between what we consume and how we consume. In how food has become a marker of religious and social identity, with various taboos and preferences. We aim to connect consumption, food history, sustainability and social cohesion across cultures and generations.Vegetables will be sourced from community gardens and local urban farms in partnership with Foodscape Collective.
