JU-STEP Pitch Day (Summer Intake 2016)

Over the 4 consecutive days intensive training in June, JU-STEP 2016 participants had attended entrepreneurship workshops, company visits, internship matching session, as well as talks with entrepreneurs and leaders from successful social enterprises and corporates. All JU-STEP 2016 participants were invited to join the 30-Day Challenge in which they could realize what they had learnt. Each STEP pitch team must consist of 2-6 students and submit their start-up proposal within 30 days.

Only selected teams will be invited to present on Pitch Day. The finalists will pitch their ideas to the judging panel and compete for The Gifted Young Entrepreneur Award with cash prizes HKD$3000.

The winning team will be determined by weighted voting: 50% based on judges' selection and 50% based on audience scores. All students are welcome to attend the Pitch Day and vote for their favorite team.

Bas A. Fransen is a Charismatic leader exhibiting strong management skills and passion about his work. ETEAQ combines tree planting, tree tracking and unique iPhone and iPad accessories made from reclaimed teak wood. For every single eco-friendly product customers buy, ETEAQ plants a tree with every purchase. Apart from the Co-founder and CEO of ETEAQ, he is also the owner of Fransen LTD Technology Consulting. With excellent communication skills, Bas demonstrates great ability in expanding his network in the industry.

Dr. Jackei Wong

Co-founder & CIO of HerbMiners Informatics Limited

Dr. Jackei Wong is the Co-founder and CIO of HerbMiners Informatics Limited, a traditional Chinese Medicine intelligence company which mines for data regarding the relationships between prescriptions, symptoms, and illness, and herbs.Moreover, it provides artificial intelligence software solutions which assist hospitals and clinics for TCM modernization and patient records digitization. Specializing in data mining and artificial intelligence, Dr Wong has received a PhD from HK Polytechnic in 2010.With over 10 years of experience in research and development, Dr Wong works as a part-time lecturer at VTC School for Higher and Professional Education.He is also an inventor of 2 patents issued in U.S.
