He was also an Associate Artist with Teater Ekamatra, a Malay-language theatre company as well as an Associate Playwright with The Necessary Stage. His published works include three collections of poetry, One Fierce Hour, A History of Amnesia and The Invisible Manuscript, a collection of short stories, Corridor, a collection of flash fiction, Malay Sketches, two collections of plays as well as the published play Cooling Off Day.Alfian won Best Script at the Life! Theatre Awards in 2005 for Landmarks, in 2010 for Nadirah and in 2013 for Kakak Kau Punya Laki (Your Sister’s Husband). In 2011, Alfian won the Boh-Cameronian Award in Malaysia for Best Book and Lyrics for the musical The Secret Life of Nora. In 2013, he won the Boh-Cameronian Award for Best Original Script for the play Parah. In 2001, Alfian won the Golden Point Award for Poetry as well as the National Arts Council Young Artist Award for Literature. His plays and short stories have been translated into German, Swedish, Danish and Japanese and have been read and performed in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Brisbane, Melbourne, London, Zürich, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Copenhagen and Stockholm.About the muscicians:About Alhafiz Jamat                                                Alhafiz Jamat is one third of Singapore’s leading instrumental band, OrkeStar Trio. He is a renowned multi-instrumentalist with a specialisation in the Bamboo flute/ seruling and accordion. His ability to mesmerise audiences with the seruling has made Alhafiz one of the most sought-after musicians in the local Malay arts scene.One of the key highlights in Alhafiz’s music journey was when he recorded an instrumental album. All the songs from the Javanese/Malay-Influenced album entitled Dharma were composed and arranged by Alhafiz under the guidance of the late Mr Zag Fahmoa, a local album producer. The debut album was released in 2006.Alhafiz has more than 10 years of experience in composing, arranging, recording, performing on both local and international stages. Together with the trio, Alhafiz has travelled and represented Singapore at international music festivals in Turkey, India, Japan, Slovenia, Hawaii, Brazil and Indonesia, among others. In addition, he also performs with his Malay traditional ensemble, Sri Gemilang, in dance and theatre productions, composing Malay dance music for schools at the Singapore Youth Festival. Up to date, Alhafiz has composed more than 90 songs.About Jeffri Natawate                                                                                                    Jeffri Natawate first got involved with music when he joined the school band at age 9. Since then, he has participated in three Singapore Youth Festivals (SYF) and led his section (percussion) all three times. What initially as a hobby soon developed into deep passion, leading him to explore Malay percussion at 15 where he was involved in Orkestra Melayu Marsiling. While studying in Singapore Polytechnic, he was part of the Malay Performing Arts Group which then further exposed him to various forms of art besides music. There, he was the head of the music department. Jeffri is actively involved both locally and regionally with many different groups. He is proud to have been a member of teams representing Singapore at dance and music festivals in numerous places including Riau, Jakarta and Karimun.  To increase his knowledge and expand his experiences, Jeffri makes it a point to collaborate with groups performing various art forms such as gamelan, Chinese orchestra, dikir barat, samba and also African drumming. He currently is a part of Orchestra Sri Temasek and AltoAura, with one of his proudest moments performing with both of them at the Esplanade in 2013.About Wazee Taib                                                   Born in 1991, Wazee Taib grew up with a love for Malay traditional music and performing. He won a talent competition held at Malay Heritage Centre. He was also a member of the Malay traditional band AltoAura, and was nominated as one of "Nova Media Baru" at the Anugerah Planet Music 2012.
