(P!D) Mizah Rahman is a designer and community organiser who is a strong advocate
for a participatory and community-centric approach in the design and planning
of cities and neighbourhoods. She is the Co-founder and Director of Participate in Design
(P!D), a non-profit design organisation that helps neighbourhoods and public
institutions design community-owned spaces and solutions. Chia Aik Beng | Photographer Aik Beng, also known as ABC, started photographing in 2008. His vivid and gritty images that focus on the daily lives of people on the streets of Singapore have earned him a strong following on Instagram numbering over 20,000. He will present his ongoing project, The Space Between Us, a reflection on the bond between human social behaviour and public spaces. Faiz bin Zohri | TANAHTANAH, stands for soil, earth or land in Malay. TANAH
are a fledgling multi-disciplinary collective engaged in the spaces around
them. Through nature and food - themed interventions, research and dialogue,
they explore symbiotic relationships and forms of everyday participation. Their
SG Farm installation for ArchiFest is a pop up farm that seeks to envision
farming in the city, in their own words: “a rejuvenation of our everyday
scenarios, and one that invites the public to till this land with us”.Lo Wan Ni | Library@orchard, National Library Board Wan Ni is the manager of library@orchard and oversees a team of librarians who curate the collection, content, programmes and services at the library. Wan Ni was previously involved in the development of My Tree House, the world’s first green library for kids at the Central Public Library. Wan Ni will talk about placemaking in boutique libraries, and will focus on how interior design, public programmes and curated exhibitions at each of the themed libraries (library@orchard, library@esplanade and library@chinatown) contribute to a deepened user experience contrary to what one usually perceives libraries to be. The Octopus ResidencyBegun in December 2015, The Octopus Residency is an initiative that aims to foster a greater sense of community and belonging in Little India, through events such as the Kapor ChatParty. The group consists of three friends, Ms Faye Lim, Ms Yen Goh and Ms Yunn Chee: Faye is an arts practitioner with a focus on communal experience; Yen is an architect who runs a community arts practice and a design firm; and Yunn is an architect and an adjunct lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic. Based in Singapore since 2012, Michaela is a Landscape Architect with
experience in both professional and academic contexts. Presently working at
HASSELL, she recently completed four years of action research in communities
living along the Ciliwung River in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her work focuses on the
socio-environmental dimensions of landscapes and living environments, and the
evolving relation of landscape, infrastructure and urbanisation.
