Prior to that, Mano has worked at AmBank Group and SBB Securities for 10 years each. Between 1987 and 1996, Mano was attached to Bank Negara Malaysia, serving various departments in the central bank. Mano’s main strengths are in analyzing economic issues, conceptualizing ideas, seizing opportunities, building operations, leading new business development initiatives for the group.Acknowledging his knowledge and experience, the government appointed him as a Member of the Economic Council (2011-2013) and a Member of PEMIKR (think tank at Min. of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism). In addition to member of several government task forces, he also sits as a Member of the Advisory Board at Nottingham School of Economics, Malaysia campus. He is also a regular columnist is the Star, titled MyPoint, discussing various economic issues.At BNM, Mano was the recipient of a postgraduate scholarship in 1993, to pursue an MA programme in Development Economics at the Victoria University of Manchester. He received his fist degree, Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, with a scholarship from the Harrisons Malaysia Plantations Bhd (later re-named as Golden Hope Plantations (M) Bhd).
