Our Watercolour CoursesThe watercolour courses are designed for absolute beginners or art practitioners who are new to watercolour. It features a flexible incremental learning structure for you to learn how to observe, sketch and paint a variety of flora and foliage, with chances to experience live observational study of blooms and greens in every class. You can choose from three watercolour courses:Introduction Watercolour Course – 4 weeks Learning ObjectivesThe Introduction Watercolour Course will take you through an four-lesson art journey of drawing and painting. You’ll be guided closely with step-by-step instructions and live demonstrations on how to achieve the learning objectives below:From plant to paper: drawing from live botany-led subjects in close observational study.Tracing and techniques of preparatory sketches, pencil/pen work.Materials knowledge.Intro to colours usage, brush works.Basic Watercolour Course – 8 weeks Learning ObjectivesThe Basic Watercolour Course will take you through an eight-lesson art journey of drawing and painting. You’ll be guided closely with step-by-step instructions and live demonstrations on how to achieve the objectives below:From plant to paper: drawing from live botany-led subjects in close observational study. Tracing and techniques of preparatory sketches, pencil/pen work.Materials knowledge colour theory and mixing.Watercolour brush techniques.Blending techniques.Foundation Watercolour Course- 12 weeks Learning ObjectivesFrom plant to paper: drawing from live botany-led subjects in close observational study. The single-visit workshop If you'll like to try your hand at watercolour and have a splash, join one of our single-visit workshop and go home with a colourful creations done in, what I call, the wet-on-wet quick wash watercolour techniques with close guidance. All materials are provided in studio use. You'll go home with a A4 size artwork. The Open-Studio Visits Learn in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where there is non-interference in your creative process. You'll engage in art-making alongside others who are seeking for specific guidance and instructional aids. Bring your own art materials. What is provided- use of amenities, drinks and refreshments. Botanical subjects are provided. Class schedule: Class takes place every Friday and Saturday mornings. There are also specially-themed workshops, so look out for them in the class schedule. This course is tailored-made to be flexible to accommodate to your travels and other commitments. The class size is small and I'm attentive to everyone's progress each time in class. So if you miss a class, I'll take you through to where you left off. Duration of class: 2.5 hours. You can choose to attend class according to your schedule. Learning is flexible and tailor-made to your individual needs.Location: You'll be painting in a cozy and natural light-filled art studio in a heritage shophouse facing a open-air courtyard filled with tropical greenery, and also chance to visit other collaborative studios. Refreshments and soothing music will accompany your practice here.Is it for beginners?: This class is aimed at absolute beginners and anyone who wants to learn about watercolour with in-depth guidance and tips to improve your work. The aim is to teach you how to draw and paint your favourite subjects and you'll be able to see how your art progresses with the close guidance and constant practice.What you’ll bring home: For single session of class, you'll get to bring home an A5 botanical watercolour artwork in a 300gm hi-quality paper. For guests who signed up for the 4-class art package, you’ll get a starter-kit of the finest selection of watercolour materials prepared for you to bring home, a brush and a block of A5 300gm paper. Most of the time, you'll also get to bring home the flowers that are freshly selected for you. We almost always work with high-quality tube of watercolour paint from Winsor & Newton, Daniel Smith, Daler-Rowney Artist Series and Schminke.Class vacancy: 6-8 guests. Class size is deliberately kept small so that you get individualised attention on how to improve on your techniques and guided step-by-step instructions on how to to draw and paint in class each time.Teacher: Lucinda Law is a nature lover and a botanical watercolour artist with a Masters in Fine Arts. She is an arts/design lecturer for more than 13 years with arts institutions such as Lasalle School of the Arts, Temasek Polytechnic and Glasgow School of Arts. Her latest works are featured on the cover and inside pages of Harper's Bazaar SG Feb. 2016 issue on floral and fauna. She is the first artist to ever work on the cover of Harper's Bazaar Singapore. Her clients for commissioned works and workshops include luxury brands such as Melissa Shoes, Kate Spade, ICON magazine and Bentley.
