His love for cooking grew day by day - he started picking up cooking tips from his aunties and recorded the ingredients and the step-by-step cooking methods in his handy exercise book.He have done many Guest Chef appearance in various five star hotels since 2005 and did many cooking demonstrations at shopping malls and departmental stores representing various cookware brands such as Berndes, WMF, GreenPan, LaGourmet, Mastrad etc . Philip also cooks for private events for The Peranakan Association Ballroom dinner and cooking classes for other charity events such as National Cancer Centre etc. In March 2008, Philip flew to Prague for the SALIMA Food Exhibition 2008 as an invited Guest Chef promoting Singapore Manufacturing Foods and Peranakan cuisines to Europe. Philip sealed his celebrity chef status in Two series MediaCorp sitcom “Sayang-Sayang”where he was invited to present 12 Peranakan Wedding dishes and Auntie Pearly’s Tua-She-Jit Birthday Party. In addition, he appeared in a TV program, Ëntertainment on 5” followed by the recent food tv program “You think you know …Your food in Singapore” with host Ms Sonia Chew presenting lost forgotten recipes on Peranakan food.Was also being interviewed few times by local newspaper, Straits Times for his knowledge on Peranakan Cuisine. An author of four cookbooks and this year he will be writing another two cookbooks. In Nov & Dec 2010, Philip was invited by InterContinental Hotel to present a “Peranakan High-Tea at their Lobby Lounge” with a Twist to peranakan foods into finger foods/tapas .Philip have also taught partime at Temasek Polytechnic as their Guest Chef in Peranakan Cooking for the Diploma students in Baking & Culinary Science since Jan 2009 till Dec,2011.On 07Nov 2011, Philip was invited to cook Bhutanese food for a Bhutan Art Exhibition at 1D Yong Siak Street in Tiong Bahru. It was well received by the Bhutanese as well as the locals. MediaCorp Channel, OKTO came to filmed it..On 11Aug 2013, Philip was invited by Peranakan Museum to do cooking workshops for their tourists and visitors. It was a three session workshops where participants were given a deeper insight of how to make Nyonya Kuehs. Even the kids enjoyed this event as they get a handson on how to make Kueh-Ee (mini coloured dumpling) usually made and served on 22Dec every year to usher and welcome the next Lunar New Year.Then in November 2013, Philip was invited by STB to represent Singapore in Yokohama, Japan to cook LAKSA. It was a two days event and met up with Singapore Ambassador there too.
