Hacktoberfest meetup

Women Who Code Kuala Lumpur is hosting an online meetup to get you started with the Hacktoberfest challenge. Hacktoberfest encourages participation in the open source community. No contribution is too big or small. Come learn how you can be a part of the open source movement or just find people to hack with.

When: 3 October, Saturday 2-3.30pm

Anyone interested in contributing to or learning more about the open source community.
Anyone who wants to learn how to do a pull request.


What do I need?
(Optional) A Github account, Visual Studio Code and Git if you want to follow along with the demo or start hacking right away with other participants

Presenters

Wendy Kong is a software developer who has experience maintaining websites and creating new features for enterprises and startups using modern technologies. In her spare time, she likes doodling and making whimsical things with CSS.


Jean F. Queralt
is the Founder and CEO of The IO Foundation, a nonprofit advocating for Data-Centric Digital Rights. Disturbed by the level of intrusion of technology in the lives of citizens, he took the leap in 2018 of starting TIOF to establish a more solid and targeted direction to address Digital Rights from a technical standards perspective.


Husein Zolkepli is the Founder and Chief Technical Officer of Mesolitica Sdn Bhd, a software engineer specializing in Big Data Pipelines, Real-time Processing, and Natural Language Processing. He created and maintains Malaya, a Bahasa Malaysia Natural-Language-Toolkit library powered by Deep Learning Tensorflow. He also has a strong background leading teams in adopting new technology stack.


Yue Lin Choong is the director of Women Who Code Singapore. She is also the project manager of Healthcare ASEAN since 2016. A veteran Software Developer and a qualified Machine Learning Engineer as she obtained her Masters Degree in Technology. She is currently working as a Lead Software Development Instructor with Skills Union to help professionals transition into the software field.
