A Collection in a Shoebox - a talk by Jim Brogan | Peatix tag:peatix.com,2011:1 2019-11-02T00:12:15-04:00 Peatix On campus at Wes A Collection in a Shoebox - a talk by Jim Brogan tag:peatix.com,2016:event-162291 2016-04-14T19:00:00EST 2016-04-14T19:00:00EST Imagine a handful of books with beautiful bindings and engaging, often unique, content.  Jim Brogan, Vice President of the Miniature Book Society, an international organization devoted to the appreciation of miniature books, and publisher of The Microbibliophile, a bimonthly journal about miniature books and the book arts, will speak about these treasures. Miniature books, which are typically no larger than three inches, are seldom encountered outside of the collections of certain libraries and individuals. However, during Wesleyan's "A World in the Palm of Your Hand: The Art of Miniature Books,"  you'll have the opportunity to view these treasures in both an exhibit and an open house.  The exhibit, created by the Miniature Book Society, will be on display in the lobby of Olin Memorial Library from April 7 to May 24, 2016, during library hours.  Miniature books from Special Collections & Archives will be showcased in an SC&A Open House in the Davison Rare Book Room, on April 14th, both before and after the lecture, from 12:00-1:00 pm, 6:30-7:00 pm and 8:00 to 8:30 pm.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Wesleyan Library.  For more information, email libfriends@wesleyan.edu.
