We Are Back! The Sarawak Adventure Challenge is back; bigger and better with even more race categories. For 2020, the fourth edition continues as a one-day multi-sport adventure race showcasing some of the best rainforests, rivers, trails and (for this year) one of the most beautiful caves of Western Borneo.  The theme for this year’s challenge is “The Jade Cave”, once again combining the excitement and demands of XC MTB and trail running with a spectacular cave. The setting is the village of Lobang Batu, 88 km from Kuching, near Tebakang, Serian. The race will start and finish at SMK Lobang Batu, with the race highlighting the spectacular scenery of the Tebakang area, the local Bidayuh communities and the vibrant history of the area.In response to requests for more variety in the format, the SAC 2020 has expanded to 14 race categories, including new categories for Sprint Duathlon, Sprint MTB and Veteran categories. Due to the time constraint, there will be no early bird pricing this year and the Registration Cut-Off Date is 13th September 2020.Sign Up & Be Thrilled! Addressing Covid-19 Concerns: In view of the on-going Covid-19 pandemic and the SOP imposed by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and to ensure the safety of all participants, a number of measures will be implemented. Participation will be restricted to Malaysians or Malaysian residents with a limit of 250 participants. The race registration will adhere to the standard SDMC Covid-19 SOP such as temperature checks, sanitizing hands, social distancing, isolation areas etc. To ensure social distancing during the race, the start times will be staggered with limited numbers for each wave.  There will also be strict access control to the registration area / start / finish  and transition areas. All participants in all categories will be monitored using an  ELECTRONIC TIMING SYSTEM to allow for accurate race timing (in spite of the staggered start regime). There will be no Pre-Race Welcome Dinner and Briefing for the Duathlon categories this year. In the unlikely event this event is cancelled, it will be rescheduled and postponed to a later date. For 2020, registration fees will be significantly reduced to encourage increased domestic participation. For example, the Duathlon Team registration fee will be reduced from RM 420 to RM 210 in 2020. With the increase in categories, the prizes for the top placing will also be reduced and the available money spread over a wider range of categories. SAC 2020 Race Format, Registration & Prizes SAC 2020 Race Format: A single-day, multi-sport event involving 2 main disciplines of mountain biking and trail running. For this year, the trail run section will also include a spectacular cave run section.In view of the Covid-19 crisis and request to open the event up to more local participants, this year’s event has increased Veteran categories as well as Sprint categories. There are 14 Categories in 2020, and depending on the category, covering distances ranging from 12 to 52 km from start to finish:- Duathlon Full - 40 km MTB / 12 km Trail run Duathlon Sprint - 20 km MTB / 12 km Trail run Trail Run - 12 km Trail Run MTB - 40 km MTB MTB Sprint - 20 km MTB (A) Duathlon Tandem Team (40km MTB + 12km Trail Run)Tandem Teams of 2 is the SAC’s signature race format.  Participants in this Duathlon race will be expected to complete all segments of the race together. The 40km MTB section is a 2-loops of 20km MTB trails followed by a 12km running trail section that includes a spectacular cave run section. For this year, there will be no Pre-Race Welcome Dinner and Pre-Race Briefing.1. Category A1: Team of 2 (Mix) -  Tandem Teams of 2 for Mixed (1 Men and 1 Women)2. Category A2: Team of 2 (Men) -  Tandem Teams of 2 for Men(B) Duathlon Individual (40km MTB + 12km Trail Run)Participants in the Individual Duathlon race will be expected to complete all segments of the race.  The 40km MTB section is a 2-loops of 20km MTB trails followed by a 12km running trail section that includes a spectacular cave run section. For this year, there will be no Pre-Race Welcome Dinner and Pre-Race Briefing. For the first time, Venteran categories have been added to this race format.3. Category B1: Men - Individual Men Open for age 18 - 454. Category B2: Women - Individual Women Open for age 18 - 45 5. Category B3: Men Veteran - Individual Men Veteran for age 45 and above6. Category B4: Women Veteran - Individual Women Veteran for age 45 and above(C) Sprint Duathlon Individual (20km MTB + 12km Trail Run)For the first time, new Sprint categories have been added to the Individual Duathlon race format. Participants in the Sprint Individual Duathlon race will be expected to complete all segments of the race. The MTB section is a one loop of 20km MTB trails followed by a 12km running trail section that includes a spectacular cave run section.7. Category C1: “Men” - Individual Men Open for age 18 - 458. Category C2: “Women” - Individual Women Open for age 18 - 45(D) Trail Run (12km Trail Run)The one loop 12km running trail section this year includes a spectacular cave section.9. Category D1: Men - Individual Men Open10. Category D2: Women - Individual Women Open (E) MTB Sprint (20km)The MTB section is a one loop 20km MTB trail. 11. Category E1: Men - Individual Men Open12. Category E2: Women - Individual Women Open (F) MTB (40km)The Full MTB category is in 2 loops of 20km MTB trail. 13. Category F1: Men - Individual Men Open14.
