Performance bonds are commonly used in the construction industry to guarantee that the issuing party will meet its obligations under the contract. Performance bonds are typically in the form of a bank guarantee that can be called upon in the event of a breach of contract. Join us for this online talk in which our speakers will explain what performance bonds are and the legal principles involved in interpreting and calling on a performance bond. Christine Toh is a Partner of MahWengKwai & Associates. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of London (External) in 2012 and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in 2013. Christine qualified in 2017 as a Certified Adjudicator and is empanelled as an Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) (Formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA)). Christine is also a qualified accountant, having graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Business System from Monash University in 2004 and having completed her Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams in 2006. Christine’s primary areas of practice are construction adjudication, arbitration and litigation, taxation, and contractual disputes.


Sue Ann graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from University of London (External) in 2016. She completed her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2017. She commenced her pupillage in MahWengKwai & Associates under the tutelage of Mr Raymond Mah.

Sue Ann was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in November 2018. Upon admission to the Malaysian Bar, she began her practice in MahWengKwai & Associates as an Associate in 2018.

Sue Ann practices in the areas of general litigation particularly in probate and administration of estate, debt recovery, construction, and family law matters.
