REDEFINING PLAYSCAPES FOR ALL!

Description

REDEFINING PLAYSCAPES FOR ALL!

A playscape is a playful landscape that is enjoyed by all citizens from all walks of life and ages in a very inclusive and generous way, whether outdoor or indoor. More importantly Playscapes are non-intimidating and they offer a wide range of open-ended play options that enable everyone to interact, be creative and use their imagination with no sense of competition or hierarchy. Playscapes increase emotional, cognitive, and motor improvements and ultimately contribute to social participation, quality of life and well-being.

So, why is it so important to incorporate Play into Design? What is the value it generates? Does transforming everyday spaces through Play create new and engaging experiences? Is Play limited to the young ones or shall more play spaces and interventions in public spaces be catered for adults too? Lastly, in the current climate where social distancing is the new norm, how Playscapes and Interaction Design will change and evolve?

To answer to these burning questions, we are inviting local and international Design Powerhouses to share their ideas, thoughts and projects located in Singapore or the South-East Asian region that embody perfectly this theme of PLAYSCAPES FOR ALL!
