EMG Presents: Twins of El Dorado and Lucie Vitkova

For the first show of our Spring season, the Experimental Music Group presents a night of music in the intimate salon setting of Russell house, celebrating sound's connections with text and movement.

Twins of El Dorado (Kristin Slipp & Joe Moffett) is a voice-trumpet duo that explores the concept of the art song and explores the intersection of text and music, subtly testing the boundaries of the meaningful and the purely emotional. The ensemble's sophomore album Verses is part songbook, part concept album in which symmetry and metonymy reign and psychic linkage endures.

Lucie Vítková is a composer, improviser and performer (accordion, harmonica, voice and tap dance) from the Czech Republic. Her compositions focus on sonification (compositions based on abstract models derived from physical objects), while in her improvisation practice explores characteristics of discrete spaces through the interaction between sound and movement. In her recent work, she is interested in the musical legacy of Morse Code and the social-political aspects of music and art in relation to everyday life.
