Sewing WorkshopOrganised by Sew Into It, participants will get to learn how to use various methods of sewing to refashion products. There are 2 types of workshops to choose from. Workshop 1 : Good Morning Towel Drawstring PouchSuitable for children age 7 and above and adults too. Participants will learn to sew using the sewing machine and sew a drawstring pouch using the Good Morning towel.Objective: Let the participants refashion everyday object into a new creation that can also increase its functionality. It also helps them better appreciate the design of the good old Good Morning towel.Workshop 2: Kanzashi Flower OrnamentsSuitable for adults. Participants will hand sew Kanzashi flowers using fabric scraps and create wearable accessories with it.Objective: To help participants better appreciate the significance of the Kanzashi flower in Japanese culture.Date: 13th March (Good Morning Towel Drawstring Pouch) and 20th March (Kanzahi Flower Ornaments)Duration: 14:00hr - 16:00hr (2 hours) Venue: National Design Centre, Lvl 5, #5.01 Number of participants for the each workshop: 15 paxSew Into ItSew Into It aims to spread the love of sewing to everyone through sewing simple yet functional craft items. Check out www.sewintoit.com.sg for more details of upcoming workshops!“Design and Make” Fair at the National Design Centre From 8 to 20 March, the National Design Centre (NDC) will host the inaugural “Design and Make” Fair, a key highlight of Singapore Design Week 2016, organised by the DesignSingapore Council. The Fair will feature over 30 Singapore designers, craftsmen and artisans under one roof. Visitors to the NDC will get a chance to discover and buy a wide variety of ‘Designed in Singapore’ and ‘Made in Singapore’ products. They will also be able to try their hands at activities such as soap-crafting, glass-painting, leather-crafting and ceramic doll-making. The “Design and Make” Fair aims to introduce the public to the growing and lively community of designers and makers in Singapore, many of whom are small business entrepreneurs who are producing delightful creations. The Fair also hopes to give everyone an opportunity to learn the basics of the creative making process, and how design is embedded in everyday living.
