【Small Talk, Small Ideas powered by Small Talk】

The idea is to create a platform to share and discuss little ideas of social innovation or seeds of a social initiative you have in mind. We hope to create a positive community of people imbued with passion to change society for the better, and provide the necessary resources to help you realize your ideas.

Each online session will be about an hour long with one or two contributors, who will speak for 10 - 15 minutes each, followed by an exchange of ideas and opinions.

Anyone is welcome to join us, as long as you either have a positive idea to share (become a contributor), or are interested in hearing interesting ideas and give constructive feedback (become a participant).

We hope that this will become an empowerment platform for young people with little ideas to sow their seeds!

Participation fee is ¥500 for students and ¥1000 for non students. The session will be held entirely in English. The maximum number of participants for each session is 20 pax.

The session will be held 4pm - 6pm (Japan Time), May 17 (Sunday).

The theme for the session is “Untapped potential of highly-skilled professional refugees/migrants in Japan”.

The contributors are The founder and CEO of Discover Deep Japan Corp. Seira Yun, COO Mayu Tatsuki and a Refugee who works at Discover Deep Japan the founder of Discover Deep Japan Corp., who will be introducing some examples of the situation of refugees in Japan and issues surrounding them, especially the underemployment of highly-skilled professional refugees.

Organization Name: Discover Deep Japan Corp.
Introduction: We will talk about the situation of refugees in Japan and issues surrounding them, especially the underemployment of highly-skilled professional refugees. We will then introduce a social innovation project, Discover Deep Japan, through which refugees utilise their language and professional skills to revitalise rural Japan through digital marketing. With the participants of Small Talk, we would love to discuss the ways in which refugees’ untapped talents can be transformed into viable solutions to problems faced by rural Japan and how we can shift the narrative so that refugees are considered contributors rather than a burden to society.

Something about our speakers:
Seira Yun: I love basketball. Can't wait for another episode of The Last Dance on Netflix!

Mayu Tatsuki: I like hiking, kayaking and camping!
