Arts Imprints Around My Neighbourhood is a music and
storytelling trail that transforms iconic landmarks in Toa Payoh as unusual
sites for pop-up performances. Led by the Music Director of the Singapore Youth
Chinese Orchestra, Mr Quek Ling Kiong, with performances by vocalist Tay Kexin,
storyteller Chen Zhao Jin and other young musicians, it inspires residents to
rediscover and appreciate the landmarks that they might have forgotten in their
neighbourhood.
Journey
with us on this music and storytelling trail around Toa Payoh!
Be enthralled by pop-up performances – including
melodious music on a myriad of Chinese, Malay and Indian instruments, and
interactive storytelling – set against well-loved iconic landmarks in Toa Payoh
such as The Toa Payoh Town Park and Dragon Playground.
Starting from HDB Hub, take a walk down memory lane to
The Toa Payoh Town Park where it used to be a popular dating spot in the 70s to
80s. Be serenaded by classic love tunes as you reminisce on memories of your
first love. Then embrace the inner child in you as we continue the trail to the
Dragon Playground where you get to re-live your childhood through familiar
stories and songs about this legendary creature. End the trail on a perfect
note back at the HDB Hub and enjoy singing along to favourite melodies that you
grow up with!
Whether you’re a kid, a parent, a grandparent, or just an
adult looking to explore the arts in your neighbourhood, join us for an
immersive experience and grab your most-loved company along for a fun and enjoyable
time!
