Riding for the Disabled Association of Singapore (RDA Singapore) is the only registered charity in Singapore which provides, free of charge, therapeutic and rehabilitative horse-riding to children and adults with disabilities. From an initial five riders in 1982, we now conduct therapy sessions for more than 100 beneficiaries a week. WHAT DO WE DO? We provide horseriding therapy (hippotherapy) to those with special needs. Hippotherapy has proven to be effective therapy for certain physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy by helping beneficiaries to improve their muscle tone, motor functions and co-ordination. For those with cognitive disabilities such as autism, we have seen improved social skills and sensory sensitivity as a result of hippotherapy. OUR IMPACT More than 80% of our beneficiaries have improved physical-motor functions. More than 90% of our beneficiaries have improved psycho-social functions. More than 90% of parents, caregivers, teachers, therapists say that our programmes are beneficial. DONATE NOW! All donations received in 2016 will be given a tax deduction of 2.5 times. We aim to raise $250,000 at this event. 2016 INITIATIVES These Include: - Resurfacing and refurbishment of our riding arena, which has served us well for more than 15 years (estimated cost: $250 000 -$300 000) - Programme expansion, including therapy horse acquisition, to provide for more beneficiaries (estimated cost: $150,000 - $200,000)
