He invented, developed, or brought to market three different 3-D printing technologies, and founded two 3-D printing manufacturing companies. He holds approximately 70 issued U.S. patents in the field of 3-D printing, founded and edited the 1st 3-D printing industry periodical and directory, co-authored the first book on 3-D printing, authored numerous papers and conference papers on 3-D printing, and launched one of the 1st consultancies focused on 3-D printing. As an SMU Professor of mechanical engineering and Director of SMU's Laboratory for Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, and Automation, Professor Cohen leads a team of students and postdocs developing several new 3-D printing technologies. He also serves as a member of the editorial board of the scholarly journal 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing. Professor Cohen has been an invited speaker at the Inside 3D Printing Conference and Expo, the 3D Printer World Expo, the Army Research Labs, and the Naval Research Labs, IEEE Metrocon, and the University of Minnesota. He's also been an invited topic co-organizer and session chair for the ASME IMECE conference, and an invited session chair for the International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium. He received his bachelor's degree in physics from MIT.   Suzanne Berzak is VP of Strategic Alliances of Trilliant Systems, the Area Distributor for DDD Systems.  Suzanne will be bringing samples of product including metal 3D printing to the meeting.
