The Details:Women Write Weekend is an intensive 2-day writing circle for women who have always wanted to write fiction but are constrained by time and other commitments. This weekend workshop is an opportunity to just focus on writing (forget about your other tasks for a while) so that you can produce at least four short stories. Think of it as a bubble or an oasis. A retreat from the worries of the world. For two days, you are allowed to delve deep into your creative core and write to your heart's content. Food and stationery are provided. Just bring yourself.The workshop will be held at The Process, a cosy residential unit turned into a studio and mini event/meeting space. This programme is catered especially to those who prefer to work with a small group, including introverts. Apart from creating and producing new stories, our aim is for the writer to understand herself or "the self" through the act of writing. The American essayist Joan Didion wrote: “I write entirely to find out what I’m thinking, what I’m looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear.” In understanding your motivations and connecting with your creative self, you will be free to write without fear of censure or inhibitions. This will not happen overnight, but we hope this workshop is a stepping stone towards achieving your creative goals.
