Join Stealing Public Space curator Iola Lenzi for a rare, participative exhibition tour, where she delves into the historical and social contexts that galvanised the compelling works. Dive into the exhibition’s interactive elements, and gain insight into how artistic processes must often navigate notions of concept, aesthetics, materiality, and method. And understand up close how the artists have designed works that draw viewers physically and intellectually into debates on public life—relevant and universal to all.

Curated by Iola Lenzi, Stealing Public Space explores connections between Southeast Asian contemporary art and the city. Pieces by Nindityo Adipurnomo (Indonesia), Lee Wen, Vertical Submarine, and Ming Wong (Singapore), Manit Sriwanichpoom, Jakkai Siributr and Sutee Kunavichayanont (Thailand), Dinh Q. Le and Vu Dan Tan (Vietnam), Martha Atienza (Philippines), and Chaw Ei Thein (Myanmar), among others, reveal how public space, physical and symbolic, are used to bring crucial contemporary issues to plural publics. Sutee Kunavichayanont’s History Class (Indonesia version), 2016, installed on the street, is one example.
