They meet at a government-sponsored event for singles: VICTOR (Hon Kahoe), a nerdy Chinese engineer, and VANDA (Udaya Soundari), an old-fashioned Indian schoolteacher. After subsequent encounters at the Social Interaction Network (SIN) functions, they go on their first date. There is clearly chemistry, which prompts Vanda to suggest a spontaneous trip to the beach. She tells Victor to meet her there while she heads home first. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes when a TV set falls out of a 17th floor HDB flat and smashes into Vanda as she is on the phone with Victor.
