There were 397 suicides in Singapore in 2018.For every suicide, at least 6 suicide loss survivors are left behind. Many who are bereaved-by-suicide have to cope with their grief and struggle to understand why it happened.Mental Health, Let’s Talk: Suicidality is a public conversational session by The Elephant in Our Community campaign. It aims to raise awareness on issues relating to suicidality through conversation with persons impacted by it.The event will start with The Silence Bubble: Depression - a short skit that combines authentic visuals and symbolism to portray the major elements of depression and suicidality in an emotive way. It is produced in collaboration with the Singapore Repertory Theatre and directed by Grace Lee-Khoo, Founder of Access Path Productions. The Group Conversation explores the real issues and consequences of suicidality in the lives of affected individuals and families and their hopes of moving on and living well. After a networking break, participants will move into small groups to reflect, share and advocate on the changes needed in our community to better support persons living with suicidality and prevent suicide in Singapore. We invite all who care about suicidality and would like to re-think the ways to bring about real changes in our community to join the conversation.Date/Time: 8 December 2019, Sunday, 12:30pm - 5:15pmVenue: Aliwal Arts Centre, 28 Aliwal St, Singapore 199918Admission is Free to members of the public aged 18 and above.*Pre-event registration is required.*Participants are required to present their identification documents for age verification purposes at the event. 12:30 - 13:00 | Check-In13:00 - 13:45 | The Silence Bubble: Depression13:45 - 15:15 | Group Conversation 15:15 - 15:45 | Networking Break15:45 - 17:15 | Reflection for ChangeMental Health, Let’s Talk is a series of public conversational sessions organised by Shan You as part of The Elephant in Our Community public education campaign on Mental Health.
