Ever had a performance thrown onto you and not know where to begin?Fear not, as we hear you! Join us on Saturday morning as we power up our knowledge on scriptwriting with Michelle Tan. In this workshop, you will share your process and challenges in crafting original and adapted text, build a small arsenal of writing exercises and other tools to develop your own process, and develop a sense of what works in performance by bringing brief written excerpts to life. About the Trainer:Currently a freelance playwright and drama educator, Michelle formerly worked with Cake Theatrical Productions as a resident writer. As a drama instructor, she works with and writes for various student groups, focusing on crafting performance text and collaboratively bringing these texts to life. Most recently her play, “I am trying to say something true”, was nominated for Best Original Script at the 2019 M1-Straits Times Life Theatre Awards.About SDEA:Established in 2002 as a not-for-profit organisation by a group of artists and drama educators, SDEA’s mission is to advance the profession of the drama/theatre educator and advocate for the practice and value of drama and theatre in performance, education and community.
