IVORY SERIES: AN ANIMAL AMONG OTHERSMei Lin Hii - PianoAnne Dé - PaperChi Hoe Mak - BaritoneChacko Vadaketh - NarratorIvory Series is the brainchild of Malaysian classical pianist Mei Lin Hii, initiated for Kuala Lumpur’s Premier Jazz club No Black Tie in March 2018. It is a classical music series, aiming to combine classical music with various living art forms such as visual arts, dance, and poetry. With its monthly thematic happenings, Ivory Series has seen collaboration and experimentation from paper art installation to dance duets, and from poetry reading to video mapping, all within the intimate frame of a piano recital or chamber music concert.Classical pianist Mei Lin Hii holds a Master of Music Degree and Professional Studies Diploma from the Manhattan School of Music in New York. There she studied with renowned teacher Zenon Fishbein. Prior to that, she was a student of Michael Ruiz at the American Conservatory of Music , Chicago. Mei Lin has performed in piano masterclass with world-renowned pianist-teachers such as Leon Fleisher, Byron Janis, Nina Svetlanova and the late Shura Cherkassky.Mei Lin made her New York recital debut at Carnegie Recital Hall after winning the 1996 Artists International Competition. She is also the recipient of the 1997 Rubinstein Award for Outstanding Woman Pianist in New York. Other prizes include winner of the Miecyzslaw Munz Piano Competition, Grace Welsh Prize for Piano in Chicago and Leo Heim Piano Memorial Award to name a few.
