Japanese whisky generally have a very good reputation, but Karuizawa is especially sought after and appreciated by connoisseurs, it has accumulated an impressive number of medals in competitions. Just like Macallan, it is a whisky that owes much of its character to the type of barley that is used (Golden Promise) and to ageing in sherry casks.
