Aliwal Urban Art Festival
Aliwal
Urban Art Festival is an annual celebration of Singapore cool. Get down to a
carefully-curated selection of art inspired by international street culture –
from graffiti to graphic art, rock to afro-beat, skateboarding to breakdancing.
The
third edition of the Festival is headlined by a street art exhibition. Cannot be Bo(a)rded features 16 artists
from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia using the skateboard as a medium to
create new art works that both respond to the physical material, and challenge existing
social connotations of youth rebellion characterised by skateboard culture.
Other event highlights include: music performances by Singaporean bands, DJs,
rappers and live graffiti by urban outfit, RSCLs. Organised
by Aliwal Arts Centre, the Festival's location in Kampong Gelam is apt. The
district is named one of Singapore's coolest neighbourhoods by international
press, with its rich history and culture, mixed with on-trend shops and cafes.
Come as you are and join the fun!
