The workshop will serve as a preview for a series of workshops hosted by Aliwal Arts Centre in February 2016, presented by the New York-based forerunners in electronic music education Dubspot and Loop Academy. Creating beats with Ableton PUSH and Basic Remixing Techniques - Loading a drum kit in Ableton’s Drum Rack - Connecting a MIDI controller - Performing and recording a beat in real-time - Preparing a sample for remixing - Arranging your song and bouncing to audio Aliwal Urban Art Festival Aliwal Urban Art Festival is an annual celebration of Singapore cool. Get down to a carefully-curated selection of art inspired by international street culture – from graffiti to graphic art, rock to afro-beat, skateboarding to breakdancing. The third edition of the Festival is headlined by a street art exhibition. Cannot be Bo(a)rded features 16 artists from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia using the skateboard as a medium to create new art works that both respond to the physical material, and challenge existing social connotations of youth rebellion characterised by skateboard culture. Other event highlights include: music performances by Singaporean bands, DJs, rappers and live graffiti by urban outfit, RSCLs. Organised by Aliwal Arts Centre, the Festival's location in Kampong Gelam is apt. The district is named one of Singapore's coolest neighbourhoods by international press, with its rich history and culture, mixed with on-trend shops and cafes. Come as you are and join the fun! About Loop Electronic Music AcademyLoop Electronic Music Academy is an international collective of electronic music producers, DJ’s, performers, and educators that offer the highest level of music education world-wide. In February 2016 Loop Academy is partnering with Dubspot, the New York-based forerunner of electronic music eduction, hosting a unique series of production and performance workshops in Singapore. The workshops will showcase two established Dubspot instructors, Max Wild and Josh Bess, and are open to participants of all levels, for both the professional musician as well as those making music for the first time. The workshops will be held at the Aliwal Arts Centre.
