MWKA Public Series Lunch Talk - How to Help Foreigners Buy Properties in Malaysia

The Malaysian property market remains attractive to foreigners and expats who either wish to live or invest in Malaysia. To many foreigners and expats, Malaysian properties are affordable and offer reasonable returns. However, there are specific requirements and policies that foreigners should be advised on and consider before proceeding with a purchase. It is also important for property agents to be well versed with these issues when prospecting foreigners and expats. In this talk, we guide property agents and foreigners on the requirements for the acquisition of Malaysian property by foreigners.

  • Minimum purchase price for foreigners
  • Properties “Off-limits” to foreigners
  • Real property gains tax - application to foreigners
  • Foreigner consent - requirement and mechanism
  • Economic Planning Unit - is it relevant?
